South Indian States: States like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka have achieved TFRs well below the replacement level of 2.1. For example:

    • Kerala: ~1.8
    • Tamil Nadu: ~1.7
    • Andhra Pradesh: ~1.7
    • Karnataka: ~1.8
    • Telangana: ~1.7

 

North Indian States: States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh have higher TFRs, often above the replacement level. For example:

    • Uttar Pradesh: ~2.4
    • Bihar: ~2.9
    • Rajasthan: ~2.3
    • Madhya Pradesh: ~2.2
